PM3 and 24FC1026 via ICSP header (phonoplug)

I would like to program a 24FC1026 serial EEPROM and naively thought I could do this using the standard AC164301 40-pin ZIF socket module, but MPLAB is telling me I need to use the ICSP Header, or an AC164370 or AC164344 socket module. Fine, I can use ICS..
